Had vehicle Inspection done they said my lower ball joint was bad and wanted $980 to replace it. Now I've worked in the industry and know that the part itself only cost a $100 bucks Max. Which means they charge you $900 in labor fees. Anyone else wanna call b*******, The part cost me 48 and some change. Then I put it in myself because it's not hard. I spent less than an hour on it. Now Grant it it cost me $200 to get it realigned, but that wasn't included in their bid either! So won't be going there ever again. I feel sorry for the people who don't know any better. Please research what you need before they rip you off.
To clarify, your estimate was for pressing out and replacing both loose lower ball joints, not a single ball joint as you describe above or the complete control arm assemblies you actually replaced. When you returned for your alignment and reinspection, we established together you had installed incorrect control arms on your vehicle. Incorrect, subpar parts will indeed be different in pricing and labor to the correct items we estimated for you. We also pride ourselves on the fair treatment of our employees by providing an above living wage, completely paid health benefits, retirement contributions, PTO and more. All of these fair labor practices are not standard for our industry. Unfortunately that does mean that our labor prices will never be the bottom dollar you can get by doing repairs in your own driveway. Should you need any further assistance correcting your repairs, we would be happy to help.
